Have fun, be safe at sea with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency at Southampton Boat Show

We’re bigger and better than we’ve ever been at the Southampton Boat Show this year, so if you’re paying a visit to the show, why not drop by our stand, B038, near the Holiday Inn, between the RNLI and RYA.

Come and chat to us about
  • getting prepared – is everything seaworthy and serviced?
  • planning your trip – voyage planning, legal requirements, what to do in an emergency
  • staying in touch – ask us about VHF DSC, EPIRB, PLB, RYA SafeTrx, flares and other alerting equipment
  • lifejackets and buoyancy aids – maintenance and how to use them
  • pollution at sea – what to do if you find it, how to prevent it and legal requirements
  • the Coastguard Rescue Service – who we are and what we do
RYA SafeTrx – try it in action  Ask us about the free RYA SafeTrx app, the HMCG approved tracking and alerting system, available for all water users. Learn how it keeps us connected with you whilst out on the water and how we respond to alerts from the app. Ask us about experiencing SafeTrx with the ‘RYA 360˚ virtual reality on the water experience’.  Immerse yourself and be part of a dramatic water rescue. Experience being winched into one of our helicopters - all at the safety of a headset. Download the app and enter our draw for exciting prizes.
Meet a Coastguard and see the Coastguard vehicle close-up
Our team of coastguards will be on hand with their vehicle and all the gear they need to rescue you if you’re in difficulty out on the coast. Ask them about volunteering and why it matters. Find out if you’ve got what it takes to be a Coastguard.
Protecting our seas
What would you do if you came across pollution at sea, how do we to clear up and what are the legal requirements?. We’ll be carrying out mini booming demonstrations throughout the day from our water tank on the stand.
Shipping Registry
Have your say with the latest changes proposed for the Shipping Registry by meeting a small team of MCA staff who want to get your input.
Aimee Neale, Maritime Operations Controller and Stand Manager, said:
We are really excited about returning to this year’s Southampton Boat Show which promises to be the biggest and best yet. says Aimee Neale, Maritime Operations Controller and Boat Show Stand Manager. ‘It’s almost three times the size of last year’s stand, we’ve got a fully kitted out Coastguard rescue vehicle for you to explore, a pool to show you interactive demonstrations of how we respond to pollution at sea, safety equipment on display, and a 360 SafeTrx VR experience! We look forward to meeting you.’
