Two men pulled from the water at Aberystwyth Harbour earlier today

Shortly after 9.20am today (Wednesday 31 August 2016) UK Coastguard received a call from the Aberystwyth Harbour Master reporting a 16ft speedboat circling in the harbour with no one on board.

Aberystwyth Coastguard Rescue Team, Aberystwyth RNLI lifeboats, the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon were immediately sent to the scene, alongside Dyfed Powys Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service and a helimed.

Two men were pulled from the water and taken to hospital.  The RNLI regained control of the speedboat and it was brought into  the Aberystwyth Marina.

Sadly, one of the casualties has passed away and the second casualty is in a stable condition at hospital.
