Kayaker in trouble sparks rescue response in Dorset

HM Coastguard has been coordinating the response after receiving multiple calls about a kayaker in trouble off Sandbanks, Dorset

Poole Coastguard Rescue Team, Poole RNLI lifeboat and Dorset Police were all sent to assist with the incident.
It’s believed the kayaker was unable to get back into shore. A paddleboarder went to their assistance and helped get him back to the beach.
Dorset Police officers have spoken to the man.
Piers Stanbury, for HM Coastguard said: ‘We will always respond to distress calls but we would remind people that they really need to consider carefully what they do this Bank Holiday Weekend.
‘The Government guidelines still stand and we’ve heard again today that it’s vitally important that we keep to them.’
‘Please exercise locally - stretching our resources instead of your legs could put our frontline responders at risk and put pressure on NHS services.
‘We’ve got this far, let’s continue the good work’. #StayHomeSaveLives
