Fire on board yacht off Swanage, Dorset

Two people and their dogs have been rescued after a yacht caught fire off the coast at Swanage.
HM Coastguard received a Mayday report from the yacht shortly after 5.50pm today (22 June) and sent RNLI lifeboats from Poole and Swanage.
Both crew on board were wearing lifejackets and have been rescued from the boat. Swanage Coastguard Rescue Team is also on standby to help with any debris that comes ashore or safety cover at the beach.
HM Coastguard duty controller Piers Stanbury said: ‘We’re not quite sure at this stage if the fire is out but the important thing is that all of those on board are safely off it.’
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
