Man Swept Away At Brighton Early Hours Of Saturday


At 1.30am on Saturday morning, HM Coastguard responded to a report of a man swept away by rough seas on Brighton sea front. 

Newhaven and Shoreham Coastguard Rescue Teams, Brighton RNLI Lifeboat were called out and joined Sussex Police on scene. A man was recovered from the water near to Brighton Pier by Brighton RNLI Lifeboat and transferred to South East Central Ambulance service where he was declared deceased.  

HM Coastguard is warning people to take extra care near the water during this period of severe weather.  Stay back from piers, harbours, rocks and the water's edge.
