Search for missing teenager suspended for the night



The search for a missing teenager, who was last seen in the water near Clacton Pier, Essex, has been suspended for the night.

HM Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public just before 6:20 this evening (26 July), saying that two boys were in difficulty in the water near Clacton Pier.

The HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lydd, Clacton, Walton and Holbrook Coastguard Rescue Teams, two RNLI lifeboats from Clacton, East of England Ambulance Service, their helimed and Essex Police were all sent.

One boy was recovered from the water by the lifeboat, he was checked over for medical assessment before being reunited with his family. The second boy remains unaccounted for.

The search will continue at first light in the morning.
