UK Coastguard appeal for information in the Cullercoats and River Tyne area


The UK Coastguard received a spoken MAYDAY broadcast at approximately 4 pm today (3 September) in the Cullercoats and River Tyne area. A broadcast has been made to all vessels in the area, with no further information received.


The Blyth Coastguard Rescue Team, Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade and Cullercoats inshore RNLI lifeboat were all tasked to search the area. The Coastguard search and rescue helicopters from Humberside and Prestwick have also been tasked to search offshore.


If anyone in the area has any information, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
