Four people rescued from Pease Bay after getting cut off by tide (with footage)

Four people were rescued yesterday (28 June) after getting cut off by the tide at Pease Bay in Cockburnspath, Scotland.
The Coastguard received reports of multiple people in danger of being cut off by the tide just before 6pm. North Berwick Coastguard Rescue TeamEyemouth CoastguardDunbar Coastguard and Dunbar RNLI Lifeboats were sent to the location, as well as the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Prestwick. Three young girls had been helped to safety by staff from the nearby caravan site. However one of the members of staff found himself cut off by the incoming tide.
The Coastguard helicopter winched the casualty on board and took him to safety. Thankfully no one required medical treatment during this incident.
Remember if you see someone in danger of being cut off by the tide call 999 and tell the Coastguard. Always check the weather and tidal conditions before you set out so that you can prepare accordingly and take a fully charged mobile phone in case you get into difficulty. .
