Cargo vessel aground at Happisburgh Sands

At about 3am this morning (Saturday 3 December) UK Coastguard were notified that a cargo vessel had run aground 8 miles off the Norfolk Coast, near Happisburgh Sands.

The 89 metre cargo vessel has nine people on board and everyone is safe and well.  The integrity of the vessel is sound and there is no need for concern but we are monitoring the situation closely.

At this stage the vessel’s master is seeking to get assistance from a tug to refloat the vessel.

There is no further information at this stage.
