Air, land and sea search ongoing for woman missing off Folkestone

The UK Coastguard has been coordinating an air, land and sea search for a woman this afternoon and evening off Folkestone, following a 999 call at 2.45 pm this afternoon.

The woman made a 999 call and spoke to the Coastguard earlier this afternoon, reporting that she had fallen on rocks and sustained injuries. Unfortunately, a short time later, the woman’s mobile appeared to lose battery life and contact was lost.

Throughout this afternoon and evening the Folkestone and Langdon Battery Coastguard Rescue Teams, Dover and Littlestone RNLI lifeboats, the Coastguard helicopter and Police have been searching for the missing woman. So far no sign has been found of her.

Kaimes Beasley for the UK Coastguard said:

“We have now been searching for the missing woman for four hours and so far have been unable to locate her. We are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety. If members of the public have information which may assist us in locating the missing woman please call us on 01304 210008.”
