HM Coastguard in search for missing angler in Cornwall

A keen angler went missing on the north Cornish coast near Newquay on Thursday evening. HM Coastguard was called out after the man failed to return to his campsite in the evening. Newquay and St Agnes Coastguard Rescue Teams, the Coastguard helicopter from Newquay and two RNLI lifeboats were involved in an extensive search for the missing man, along with many members of the public.

Just after midnight, the missing man was pulled from the water by one of the lifeboats and was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital by the helicopter.

The man has sadly now been confirmed dead and his family have been informed. The incident is now in the hands of the Devon & Cornwall Police.
