UPDATE - Search for missing crew member suspended.

The search for a missing crew member who went overboard from a merchant shipping vessel yesterday evening (Friday 15 July 2016) has been suspended unless any further information comes in.

The UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopters based at Lee on Solent and Lydd, the RNLI all weather lifeboats from Newhaven and Shoreham, as well as a number of commercial vessels in the area joined in the search when the Mayday call was made at around 6.30pm last night.

They searched the area (30 miles South West of Newhaven) extensively until well after midnight with nothing found.  At around 1am the search was suspended.
