UK Coastguard called to jet ski incident at South Shields

Shortly after 3pm today, the UK Coastguard received multiple 999 calls reporting an incident involving a jet ski at the South Pier, South Shields, South Tyneside.

The Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat, the South Shields Voluntary Life Brigade and the Tynemouth Voluntary Life Brigade were immediately tasked  to the incident.  The North East Ambulance Service and Northumbria Police were also called to the scene.

One casualty was located and taken ashore by the Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat before being attended to by North East Ambulance Service paramedics.

The casualty was taken to the Cramlington Hospital.  For any further information please contact the Northumbria Police.
