YACHT AGROUND AT SCROBY SANDS, GREAT YARMOUTH

Humber Coastguard was alerted yesterday evening by pan pan emergency call and told that the yacht 'Moonriver' had run aground on sand and gravel at Scroby Sands, Great Yarmouth.

There was one woman on board with no reported injuries. Humber Coastguard requested Gorlestone Lifeboats to attend the scene. The crew removed the woman and attached a line to the yacht which they were able to re-float.

Graham Dawson, Humber Coastguard Watch Manager said,

"It is important to check your position, and re-check it. This incident was the result of confusion of navigation lights with lights on a nearby offshore wind farm."
