Coastguard helicopter flying engineers to remote Scottish island to restore power
The all weather HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Sumburgh has been called into action to take two engineers to the remote Island of North Ronaldsay to help restore the island's power after they were hit with bad weather.
The remote Scottish island is home to approximately 80 people - many of whom are elderly. It is not known when the island lost power, but the poor weather conditions have made the island more difficult to reach, which is why the Coastguard helicopter was sent.
The helicopter is picking up the engineers from Kirkwall and will be proceeding to North Ronaldsay, which is about 30 miles away. There is no further information on this incident at this stage.
