Multi-agency search results in missing man being found in Dorset

An extensive search around the Swanage area involving the UK Coastguard has resulted in a missing person being found safe and well.

The call came into the Coastguard around 9.30 this morning and a large-scale search launched.

Three Coastguard Rescue Teams – Swanage, Kimmeridge and St Albans Head - were involved along with the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Portland, Swanage RNLI inshore and all-weather lifeboats.

All worked together alongside Dorset Police, Lowland Rescue DORSAR, and Wessex 4x4 Response, in the search for the missing man, who was found this evening in the Swanage area.

Tom Wright, Coastal Operations Area Commander from the UK Coastguard said, ‘We often talk about how important multi-agency working is – and this shows just why it matters.

‘Everyone worked well together in this co-ordinated search and we’re pleased that there has been a good outcome.’
