UPDATE - Search for swimmers at Barmouth continues

Coastguard Rescue Teams from Barmouth, Aberdyfi, Criccieth and Harlech have been on scene conducting shorelines searches for the missing swimmers at Barmouth since 6am today (Monday 8 August 2016).

The Barmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat has also been launched to conduct a search of the bridge, the harbour and the main channel.  The Harbour Master from Barmouth and the North Wales Police are also on scene involved in the search operation.

Update - 12.45pm

The high tide has made it difficult to search the area thoroughly so the search has been scaled down until 6.00pm when it's low tide. At the current time, only Barmouth Coastguard Rescue Team is still on scene searching the area.

The Police helicopter is currently doing a sweep of the bay.

At 6.00pm today (Monday 8 August) the same number of teams will search the area with the same intensity as this morning.
