Search called off at Camber Sands

After an extensive search of the Camber Sands area and the surrounding sea, UK Coastguard called off the search for a missing swimmer who was seen struggling in the water on Sunday.  

Coastguard Rescue Teams from Dungeness and Rye, Coastguard rescue helicopters from Lydd and Solent, Rye, Hastings and Littlestone RNLI lifeboats and Pett Level Rescue Boat (an independent inshore boat) beach lifeguards and Police all helped with the search.

UPDATE - Monday 25 July 2016
 
Yesterday (Sunday 24 July) at about 6.20pm a member of the public reported to the UK Coastguard and Sussex Police that there was a body on the beach at Camber Sands. Rye Bay Coastguard Rescue Team, Sussex Police and the South East Ambulance Service all attended the scene.  The person was sadly declared deceased by Sussex Police.  For any further information please contact Sussex Police.
