SEARCH FOR TWO MISSING MEN IN BRIGHTON

UK Coastguard are coordinating a Search and Rescue in severe weather tonight for two missing men.

Just after 1am this morning, UK Coastguard received a call from a member of a group of four men who had entered the sea at Brighton Beach.

Two members of the group had managed to get ashore, however a further two remain missing.

Coastguard Rescue Teams from Shoreham and Newhaven are on scene, along with the Shoreham all weather lifeboat. The Coastguard Rescue helicopter is on route, and the Newhaven all weather lifeboat is also on its way to assist in the Search.

Matt West, UK Coastguard Controller, said “The unfavourable weather on scene is making the search extremely difficult for those involved. The weather is currently South West eight to severe gale force nine with very high waves.
