OVERNIGHT UPDATE ON SEARCH FOR CREW OF CEMFJORD

The search in the Pentland Firth for the eight crew of the vessel Cemfjord, will be limited overnight to vessels travelling through the area.

The tug Herakles will stay on scene overnight illuminating the scene and warning shipping in the area.

Since Shetland Coastguard was contacted by the ferry at 2.30 pm, reporting that the hull of the cargo vessel had been found, the Wick, Thurso, Longhope and Stromness RNLI lifeboats, the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Shetland, RAF rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth and other vessels in the area have searched for the missing crew in the Pentland Firth. Sadly none of the crew have so far been found.
