SAFETY WARNING AFTER GWYNEDD BEACH CORDONED OFF

Members of the public are being urged to stay away from Bennar beach, Dyffryn Ardudwy after a World War II mine was discovered there this morning.

Holyhead Coastguard was first made aware about the ordnance just before 8.30am. The Harlech Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to the scene. They set up a cordon and this remains in force at this time. Anyone heading to the area won’t be able to gain access to the site for their own safety.

Military explosive experts are currently on scene and arranging for safe disposal.
